Months before we published our first blog post, Beth and I had tons of meetings on the purpose of the TwoWomen platform.
What came out of those meetings was a pretty simple (but we think powerful) mission statement.
TwoWomen exists to change the ongoing experience of growing older. Said in another way, TwoWomen’s focus is to help our followers “age with optimism.”
We do that month after month by dividing our content across what we call “foundational habits.” We’ve identified seven of these core habits.
For instance, for April the habit was “Exercise and Movement.”
So, every week during the month, we’ve discussed something about the benefits and the challenges of movement. Hopefully, we made the case that even if you’ve not moved your body since you were a cheerleader in high school, it’s never too late to add movement to your daily schedule.
The TwoWomen blog platform is a small (but growing) brand. Just Beth, me, and our graphic designer (and my son) Morgan.
I’m responsible for writing the weekly blog. Beth is in charge of proofreading and publishing the blog across all channels. Our newsletter is a joint effort.
So, of course, Beth reads all the content that goes out.
Based on her changed behavior, I’d say the content for April must have been extremely motivating for her. Not only did she achieve her step count every day during the month, but she’s also finding her way back to a healthier, more supportive diet.
For instance, she’s back on her morning smoothies, her green and red powders, and her love affair with frozen berries and cherries! It’s all very exciting – go Beth go!
In the April newsletter we sent to our subscribers we mentioned chia pudding in a section we call “Chit Chat Chronicles.” She followed the link to the recipe and the next thing I know; she’s making chia pudding for the first time!
She made just one variety with a simple recipe. To the base of chia seeds and milk, she added a little almond extract (she was out of vanilla extract) and pumpkin spice blend and let it sit in the refrigerator overnight. The next morning she topped it with chopped apples before she consumed it.
She told me her first bite was tentative – she was afraid she wouldn’t fancy the texture. But she did like it and was pleasantly surprised it was not “slimy.” Instead, it had a nice, creamy pudding texture.
She said she could totally envision it with assorted nuts and her favorite dark, sweet cherries.
As the calendar changes from the cool days of early spring to consistently warmer weather it’s the perfect time to take our exercise routine outdoors.
We’ll see you next Wednesday for the first May blog post. And in the meantime, let’s all continue to move more and enjoy the benefits that an active lifestyle can provide. ❤️
