Playing Dressup

I think I’m going to wear headwraps this summer.

I just sorted out my hair accessory drawer. I tossed out tons of old headbands, scarves, fabric wraps and bandanas.

And I’m left with tons of headbands, scarves, fabric wraps and bandanas. I actually wear them all year long, but summer, 2022 I’m going to wear them intentionally and with a little more swagger.

In the fun and sun category, Beth never disappoints. When I asked her how she was going to brighten and lighten up for summer, she was ready with a list.

• Putting her salon appointments on hold and rocking her natural hair.

• Dressing for work in crisp linen pants, new Keds or sunny yellow Sketchers

• Hot, humid nights will find her in one of two statement kimonos she bought while we shopped together in Austin late last year. One is fabulously embroidered and sheer, the other, neutral in tone but with a stunning silhouette that will be memorable with a signature belt.

And lastly there’s my friend Darlene. Love her. I don’t know everything she’s planning for the summer, but I know the one thing that puts the sun in summer, the play in playful for her. Jellies!

Yes, that’s right. The little flat shoes, we wore all summer as kids. Well, they make them for adults, and she loves to rock them. Apple green, bubblegum pink, transparent – she loves them all and looks great wearing them.

So, what’s your summer obsession? Is it single-item outfits when it's sizzling? Something fun for patio parties? Or perfect pairings for travel or the beach?

Whatever it is, summer is fun time so let’s enjoy every minute of it. Laissez les bon temps rouler!
